Stark Varg, sound system mod (POC)
A recurring criticism among other riders is that you can't hear an electric bike approaching from behind, which can be unnerving and also a safety concern.
I found an app that adjusts the pitch of the imported audio file, so I started playing with the idea of how to use it to create an artificial engine sound. With my daughter's JBL Go 4 and some tinkering on the computer, the experiments began.

Factory map 4: 56hp / 80 % regen during the first 6 laps, then factory map 5: 60hp / 80 % regen during the rest of the laps. Theres a power loss at ...

Really interesting what you did there! Its going to be interesting when the throttle position and the load stage of the engine will be modulating the sound. Thanks for the video!
any ideas on when we can expect a broader release or how one can get on the beta testing crew?
BMW I8 has a soundover thats sounds like a NASCAR with the air filter removed.
Are those handlebars rolled forward and absolutely absurd amount ?????? That’s looks ridiculous why would you do that ?
I think the camera is to blame, handlebar is at 0 (default position and marking on the Varg)
@@enforcer-enduro yeah that’s strange it looks Like it’s way forward. Could be the bar pad I’m used to seeing the phone there
Exelent resource. I want to make mine street legal with a Texas plate, then we'll have local transportation in our Toyhauler Motorhome
Other than dust issues you could have a track in a residential neighborhood, that’s a game changer.
This interview just sold me.
The whole reason to have a silent bike is to be able to listen to Slayer!!
If YAMAHA does it, it will happen but if they don't nothing will come of it! YAMAHA did it with the four stroke so I think it's going to FLOP!😂
Great interviews
try importing a recording of a 4 stroke and a 2 stroke just for fun
just an idea to consider for sound production - transducer / exciter mounted to plastics on the bike. These exciter devices can turn any somewhat rigid surface in to a speaker. I believe the more rigid the better but i don't have a ton of experience with them. Point being that you may be better sound by changing the material from plastic to carbon fiber for example. A similar product exists for RC cars. It's a speaker with selectable engine sounds. Maybe you can borrow some of its design concepts if any are helpful.
Where do you secure the speaker on the bike?
Put a card in the spokes
You borderline a tornado siren lol
I used to do this on a mountain bike. Forward facing speaker let others on the trail know I was coming. Works great on crowded trails. On my Ultra Bee racing hare scrambles, I use the horn, but it'd be nice to not have to think about it.
they should make the battery easily swappable for the upcoming enduro bike being created, the ultra bee does that well and if stark implements this. its going to be a game changer with the amount of power it already has
Hi, do you know if the Supermoto model will be released at the same time as the Enduro model ? thanks for this interview !
I am racing mine for the first time here in Australia this weekend, will be using the race mode in the app, competing in mx1 class. The genie is out of the bottle with this bike , my own reaction after a few weeks of owning it has surprised me . I am no longer interested in even riding my other bikes, I wasn't expecting that. Several friends have ridden my bike and were amazed by it ,proclaiming it to be the best bike they have ever ridden. The numbers of riders like myself who will switch over to the electric bike will grow rapidly I think..I am strictly motocross so range is no issue for me. If a significant number of riders make the switch it will cost the other manufacturers sales of their full size motocross bikes, then they will have to make a choice if they produce one themselves, but in doing so they will only rob themselves of even more sales of their combustion bikes. Also , it is common for a sportsman level motocross rider to update their bike every couple of years or even every year..serious racers on 250 f"s will often sell the bike at 30 hours rather than pour money into an engine rebuild. I for one cannot forsee any need to replace my varg with a new one for quite a few years , the electric motor is not a ticking time bomb like a combustion engine, especially a 4 stroke. I think a lot of riders will come to realise this and over time overall sales of full size motocross bikes will decline even further. Unless...unless the wide spread uptake of full size electric motocross bikes actually brings about an influx of riders entirely new to the sport because we might have more tracks to ride and closer to population centers and because the bikes are much easier to ride and safer in my opinion and because they are vastly cheaper and easier to maintain over their lifespan. Time will tell
Great interview!
Most of the people in the US that have a Stark Varg, own a house with a garage that is wired for or could be 240vac 50a like a 14-50 NEMA for a welder or their EV car with a J-1772. Why not have a 6.6-7.2 kw charger that can plug into a J-1772 or NEMA 14-50?
Great interview. Anton seems a very considered and intelligent bloke and seems like he really undestands the off road bike industry and riders much better than some of the larger bike manufacturers. Personally, i have no issue with a small subscription to receive new updates etc this will be far less money than the pistons and valve work i have to do to my husky.
Range is concerning factor when street legal model arrives - I want to take my bike and ride to forest and back without a van or trailer - usually it’s about 200km in a day. And it’s mostly fast forest and gravel roads.
200km is quite far from what current technology can offer, I think were at least 5-10 years from 200km on one charge.
I have a bike that can do that range, a Zero DSR 16.6kWh, but it's 500lbs(225kg). Battery density needs to double from ~200Wh/kg closer to 500Wh/kg for a long range under 150kg bike.
I will happily pay a small monthly fee for continuous development and cellular service. Having support be able to "see" the bike remotely is priceless. Stark support is night and day better than KTM, and remote access helps support.
I don't own a Stark YET.. but am very impressed by a CEO and company that support and stand by their customers.
an automatic electric brake that just stop roll back when you dont make a hill climb would be amazing
Paying a few dollars for software updates is totally worth it. People forget the crap you deal with via bikes like KTM. Remember the fueling issues of the 2018-2019 TPI? Guess what KTM left customers to fix that on their own, if you got lucky the dealer was smart enough to help you and load updated maps but ultimately you were out of luck on resolving the fueling issues that KTM refused to resolve. But guess what! KTM did resolve it in the 20-21 models!!! AND PREVIOUS MODEL OWNERS DIDNT GET THE FIX. I would have happily paid ktm a few dollars to have the ecu updated and not have to invest in a TSP reflash and head. But I did because I didnt want my $14k bike to not be competitive with carb bikes.
I’ve ridden for. 50 years and owned dozens of dirt bikes. The Stark is easily the best.
Same..
The Varg is by far the most fun I've had on a dirt bike. I would gladly pay for the subscription. What an amazing bike, keep up the good work.
Same..
Keep it simple and light weight. No clutch. Reverse switch. Better side stand.
Just watched both videos, so awesome to have a refreshing CEO have a normal conversation about the future developments etc.
What make are the comp adjustment on top of the forks ?
These are full Öhlins cartridges
Get us reverse please!!!
Any chance of getting the bike to a more reasonable price. At 20k aud its double the cost of a brand new honda 450.
Stark Varg is in a class by themselves, only because they are the best and fastest electric dirt bikes
In the USA anyone with 220 at the house, has at least 30amp available. Most new homes are being wired with 220 50amp for ev car Charging. Also, all of our 220 generators output 30amp. Long story short, we can utilize fast charging. Please Stark, give us a fast charger option.
Is Stark a bigger manufacturer than Surron?
No I don't think so. Surron sells a lot of bikes, I think it will take a year or two before Stark is at that level. In terms of valuation and turnover it's a different thing, I think Stark will be the biggest "electric bike manufacturer" quite soon.
But if you look at most of the dirt bike racers who have shown more interest in Stark Varg dirt bikes way over all other electric bikes then Stark Varg stands alone
Hey bro, u didn't ask about the throttle redesign to acomodate LOCK-ON GRIPS. Can you please ask about this next time? Thanks!
I actually did but it didn't make the cut, was thinking that the answer regarding the throttle tube was enough :) (There won't be any lock-on grips until the whole throttle is redesigned)
Oh okay, thank you I appreciate you clarifying and great interview!!! Keep them coming 😊
Don’t put a clutch on the bike!!!!!!! The simplicity is the best part about it and it’s not needed
It will be there when you need it, doing nothing if you don't
@@haydenflinner there also won’t be a hand rear break there if that’s the case , and it will also be more weight to the bike
@@Ozfreerider2504 it's not that hard to put two levers on one side
@@haydenflinner yeah but hard hard to operate 2 ! Just gives another way to fuck something up as a rider and make a mistake . Just get rid of all unnecessary shit . Hand brake each side and ride ! Easy !
@@Ozfreerider2504 Other bike manufacturers have sold that already, Surron for instance have electric clutch and rear brake with the same lever.
No clutch pls
I will happily pay for continuos features development.
Your promotional videos never mentioned subscription model for the things the app was going to allow you to build for profiles. I bought under the understanding I would be able to set throttle, flywheel, inertia, and traction control without a fee monthly. It was stuck deep in reading on the site. 100% could have done a better job being clear what we were going to get in the app without fees. Using the data plan cost that you have to pay is a crutch. You could easily tied it to wifi and the app itself and pushed the updates to the bike via the phone, with no continual cost vtob the company.
Great interview. Thanks!
Thanks!
Great interview. Really interesting 👍🏻
Thanks!
Is the ama this anonymous company? I have a feeling it is haha
Its the KTM Group, but they more or less run several of the organisations.
@@enforcer-endurothey are scared
Do you think this can be use to certify it for street legal? I really really would like this bike but I need be able to street ride.
Not a fan of race mode being locked behind a subscription. Not really a fan of bikes having anything locked behind a subscription either. Could you press on this a bit, the bikes have WiFi capability, if the cost issue is bandwidth, why not just ask the end user to bring their own connection and do it all over WiFi?
Then don’t use race mode then. It is to be able to lock it down to show it is restricted
@@kurtheidelbach but why does that toggle need a subscription? What does that subscription bring other than turning on a knob, what is the value add ongoing from there?
@@771racing I’m sure the race mode is all tied to getting it certified to race in the approved races with the oversight they have implemented and presented. The normal consumer wouldn’t need it
